Why is it always rags to riches? I keep being given everyone's hopes and dreams and I'm just some farm kid according to the storyline of NWN2 (which I lothe more than it's predesesor for actually setting my age and previous skills in the story. (kind of seems a bit obscure for a 5000 year old necromancer to hang out with kids and defend a village from bandit raids (my character would just turn the bandits and raid the villlage myself)) Of course there is the option to start a game and level up your character with cheats then start another game and import the chracter, thus making it more plausable that I would save a city from a Litch and the Mind Eater, but then there's not character growth. Always the trade off.
Aside: also any character of mine over level 20 in any D&D based game, it takes the armies of helms deep to bring me down (rouge/shadow dancer/monk nothing can touch me and if I give meself cleve in character creation thn I'm unstappable in large groups)

In some trials the only outcome is to Lose, for example (and it's the example most relevent to me, because it's what cause me to do this post) Far Cry 2, half way through the game (yes I'm only half way through and I've had it for almost a year and I'm and avid gamer) you are called to come to your hideout of sorts and help your friends, so naturally you do. Thing is you can't save them. The mission is to save your friends and escape. Instead you all geet killed, but for you being killed doesn't suit your image and you stop being dead.
But this is entirely unfair, they make it as if you can sucseed and I'm just doing it wrong. Why in the menu does it lest all the allies I had alive a minute ago as dead now, it runid my perfect record of no friends dead. had half a mind to restart and not gather any friedns so most of them would be alive after that incident. I even went as far as to change some game files and make buttlis do no dammage to anyone, intead you use firee and meele to kill people. After you kill seven of the guys out side then they stop dying till you go in, once in I walked back through the wall and watched the battle. people just turrn up in the blind spots untill everyone is dead. And scince I couldnt find the values for granade damage I couldn't stop them getting wiped when 7 guys threw them all in.
Also while ranting on Far Cry 2, I hate it when I'm on low health, (critical low, red flashing edges low) and I take a small drop to take cover, and it's enough to give me fall damage and I die from that, and so my chasen friend comes and rescues me. Worse when by acident I make myself explode while planning a trap on the road to ambush a convoy and I die and my chaosen friend comes rescues me from no one (but is determined to fight these non existant bad guy's cause he's too devoted to think I could hurt myself)

My Answer: I would totally grab the first person and tell them some fantastical yarn (meaning a lie) of some grand conspriacy that had finally killed me, and it was his job as a human to let the people know. That way I'm remembered for a while after I died, best outcome is that I somehow make up a story that's the same as an actual conspiracy and I'm made a natinal hero. That's right I want to be remembered as a great artist, who's medium was lies with occatinal use of the truth.
Actually I have bad cases of just lying to people for no reason, like they ask a simple question and I tell a lie and they keep asking questions and I keep feeding them truth bending. They leave knowing nothing about me, untill I left school this was done on all the teachers who had no prior knowledge of me or were substitutes. It's not like I've got it in for people who I've not met, It's just a reflex and a protection mechanism. Dam I'm dammaged goods.
I might Sign Out
I might just play some Far Cry 2 (I so have to finish that game)

of course it always helps to have both, but what comes first for everyone else?
For me? it's always a character. Following is the kind of trouble they would get in then the worst kind of trouble they would get in, and that's the main point of the plot. They start fairly well off, then get into worse and worse trouble. this seems to be how to developers for Mirrors Edge went about it, cause the plot ends up half done, Faith (Protagonist) just goes from the frying pan to the fire to the crucible, where she hangs out for the rest of the game.
But I have Windborne April a gilr who's only frind is the wind, when she moves the wind goes with her. The worst trouble i could think of is for her to find other people, TV government people (difference between TV goverment people and normal ones is that on TV they're always much more basterd-face than they would be allowed to be in reeal life) so she gets trapped, and must escape.
Like most games I'm not going to share them till I can get decent artwork going, but if i keep going all I'll need is a larger lavel design and some less boring textures and sharper sprites and it'll be decent, a bit repeditive and no replayability, but mini-game worthy.

Creating a ghosting object every cycle of the game may take some flops away from regular game meechanics, but first I have to find a way to create a same sprite as was used, but depending on the animation used it may not be nessesary.

First a problem that's plagued me is that of time travel, and the inability for it to work due to causality errors. eg if one goes back in time and runs over Hitler with a Deloraine before he massicers all the Jews, then you now have no incentive to kill him in thee future, runing cause and effect: cause: hitler was mean. effect: killed him before he was mean, effect cause didint happen hence error.
therefoe if one goes to a place in time where you have no knowledge of, thus no cause to go there in the first place other than to be a tourist, then the effeet is that you hve no knowledgeable effect on the timeline, you find your eeffect when you return. If you can make sence of that then you have to find a place in time you have no knowledge of that speaks the same language as you.
alteritavly you could travel forward in time, but your not alllowed back as you could change the timeline and cause a revese causality error: make the effect happen before the cause, eg invent some tech years before it was when you travled forward to beginwith. All this thinking is under the idea that time is set.
FIN
now that I'm done with my exams my free time has become my full time and I've been getting into C++ proggramming cause it's nessesary for most of the courses I'm hoping to get into. With great free time comes a fair few games: Sonic PC collection (all finished), Disgaia DS (MMO like grinding for level ups so i can kill the next lot of monsters, also so i get more powerfun weapons, but the abilities i'm getting just seem to stack and I only use the first abailty a class gets cause it fits the most situations), Scribblenauts (actualy stolen by my sister because i lt her have a short turn and she ran off, bloody 20 year old), Megaman starforce Dragon (reminds me of the good old days of battle network), TF2 (halloween hats got old fast and are interfearing with my tanut kills)
Also been devloping further on the previous ideas posted, with working titles: Prometheus project and Paranoia gamee (a slight paranoia modle was worked into Batman: Arkum Asyllum when the bad guys found someone knocked out, but it was more like an alarm metre, with high alarm making them shoot at slight movements so if you moved near them theey would shoot you, elsee look silly). Along with a third title: King of theives (tell me if something else has the same name) where upon your chaacter sets up a caper/heist/con and then carries it out, all fairly linear in missions (one at a time) but missions are planned to be big and have many aspects to acheive before the heist can begin. Planned neich title, as I havn't found a reliable audiance.
note: also want to make a flight sim for bi-planes, just because
Next Halloween if i can find someone to go with I'm dressing up as the grey ghost (made up super heero in the batman world (original cartoons, first series)) cause he looks cool, that or Dr Horrible. Or just get aviator gogles, cause they'd make flight sims that much more cool ( already have fan to simulate winds)
Also I wanted to do a game similar to Mirrors edge but more extreame, less forgiving. Called Follow the leader (or not) you control an eXtreame Lemming, and through him the few that follow behind him (acting as a lives system). doing a sprite based one for fun right now, but have planes to make it into a full 3D game, maybe still with sprites through.

changes: prometheous project- light stealth aspect, should avoid the presence of gods while running arround Olympia, now more a slash and hack with the combat being controled mainly by timing (in a similar way to assassins creed) As you try an attack and you get to the end of a swing with you sword, you attack again and the character will then continue the combo. A combo of four commands: horrizontal attack, virtical attack, grab/throw and jump. attack twice jump then grab/throw, and the charactr will attack and jump then throw his sword into an enemy, once disarmed he will attack with hands and feet untill you arpoach your sword and grab/throw. simple. will explain in future better.

Here's the first 3 verses:
I have trudged over moutons, I have saved half the world,
I did fell all those demons that did march onto our shores,
Yet of all the awesome feats that I've accomplished in my time,
None yet can compare to just living a full life.
As I sit in my Youth, in my chair, in my pants,
I imagine me victorious over all the world's strife,
yet of all the glorious victories I do see in my head,
The ones that are the best are the ones I miss instead.
For outside my head I'm Powerless, Outside my head I'm lost,
Outside are other people who's trust I must accost,
And it's much more comfortable and warm here living in my head,
Yet there ain't no company here spare the ramblings that I find.
Lines 6, 8 and 16 need editing as I'm not happy with the words
It's about a young person who spends too much time daydreaming and wastes away his life, and so he doesn't know how to cope with the outside world or even other people. any advice or changes are welcome unless they're along the lines of give up.
The words were original better but someone ate the original copy of the lyrics so I had to rewrite it from the scraps salvaged and memory.

Imagine your attacking a fortress at night with little but your wits and a grappling hook (for the walls). It's night time, the moon is out, the shadows are deep and long. they look alive, you can hear rustle to the right and a blast hits thee small animal that dared move.
"GOT IT!" you hear the guard yell from his lofty position. normaly you could never get past such heaverly guarded walls, but you have the element on your side, just throw some rocks around in the dark, get spotted slightly a few times and steal one or two sentries. that'll get the guards quivering in their boots, something is out there in the dark, something they can't see or hurt, they're scared. Paranoia, such a useful tool, but never used in games. If guards see you in splinter cell they exclaim: "What was that?" before realising they're amnisiac and forgetting they saw the glimpse of a boot in the darkness and will say the same thing over and over again if you let they forget. People who are scared make mistakes, like shooting their own team because they snuck up. You could storm a fortress and never shoot a single person.
So if anyone can put togther a game before me using this idea as a major concept/gimick it's their's free. As I'd rather have a game with this mechanic than without. It could be fun. If you want a story to go with it if you're going to make the game then by all means drop me a line and I'll get in touch

Gods of Olympus have given man buildings and society but man remains religent on the gods to survive. Prometheus steals the essence of ingenuity from Zeus and takes it back to his people who within months develop into a advanced socioty who build a giant floating city (atlantis) while sending prometheus back to take more ideas and tech from the gods to advance, untill it reaches a criticle point and they cause their own cataclysm but send prometheus back on one last mission: to steal a time travel device and a paradox nulifier. where upon he goes back and steals fire and gives it to all men
And a comment the Photoshopwhore made on this somewhere else on the internets:
Stealth games are all about the get-out-of-jail-free cards. It's all about providing players with avenues to compensate for when they get spotted. And they will - it's inevitable. You need to provide players with tools, equipment or mechanics that allow them to escape a situation. You can't make it too easy or too difficult though, as that's where the frustrating element of stealth games comes into play. Try not to be too punishing. Instead, give the player a bit of a slap on the wrist, and move on. Instead, you should provide incentives for completing the objectives as stealthily as possible; perhaps some kind of super special reward for not being spotted even once. It's less about getting to the end of the mission and more about making players think "How could I have done that better?"

The Explosions: awesome, especially from a distance. But not everything you expect to explode will, actually only a shanty with wooden supports and cars explode properly, everything else just catches fire. wooden crates which sit around doing nothing but forming makeshift ladders and pieces of cover cannot be destroyed, you can't shoot through them, can explode them, half the time they don't even catch fire. It's a real let down, hopefully they'll patch it and fix this problem.
Legs: the second worst problem is the characters lack of legs. Now don't get all: but FPS games now days never bother with legs sans Mirrors Edge, but first time i noticed legs in this game was the intro scene in the car, i had legs! sure they weren't doing much but they were there which counts. I suffer some malaria and collapse and it seems my driver wasn't kind enough to bring my legs cause as soon as i wake up, there gone. But fear not for they reappear every time i get into a car.
AI: awesome except in one respect: getting out of cars. probably to keep their legs as they get out, they will pause for a second or so making it deliriously easy to head shot them or light them on fire.
so other than those small problems awesome!

Two posts in one day, but after a 9 month sebatical i need to catch up.
long periods of time--> leading to the idea that i have terible timing. In the online game i frequent Team Fortress 2 (but depending on your luck, which i have a lot of to make up for bad timing, your team won't act much like one and let their fortress fall to the red) I will almost always decloke (as spy) when someone turns the coerner behind me, or walk through the door ahead of me or just plain block my path. IRL (in real life) it's just as bad, on campus when ever i sware (which isn't that frequently) one of the staff just so happens to be directly behind me so they can hear, when one of my friends is passing around a game they got (free ones, pirate are bad) and it just so happens i spent the night before and my download quota on somethiong i could have got free.
along the lines of time again, time travel is impossable, just have to point that out. it is impossable, cannot be acheived. doing anything other than one way travel through the dimention of time if flawed. the best paradox I know that proves this rediculous idea is the Paradigm Paradox (because paradoxes with alliterating names are more doomsday) you travel through time 40 years to the future without any side effects, compleatly possable (doubble standards) and find you have cnaged socioty as we know it with this fabulous blog post you wrote the day after you traveled forward in time, you take a copy (probably a hard copy as the tech that far ahead would not be compatable at all with ours) bring it back and write it on the internet. now here comes the question: where did this idea come from, you took ideas from the future and brought them back, they now don't have an origin and have changed so much and were never thought up just existed.
on a less doomsday tone, as i said before time travel is entirely possable to a degree. you can only go forwards and the speed you do it at is reletive to the sepeed you travel through the 3 lower dimentions (width, length, depth) faster you travel in them the slower you travel through time. along that line if you acheived abslute zero and stoped all your atoms you would intintaniously travel through all periods of time. faster through space slower through time, slower through space faster through time. theorectcaly anywho.

Note: this data has been collected on high school students at the school I'm stuck at and may be an isolated case of weirdos
-During rain or high moisture in the air, the water particles attract dust and dirt in the air (practically cleaning it this clean air then gives you more oxygen and then you utilize this and can think clearer and more creatively. the reason behind why all your best ideas are got in the shower.
-Windy conditions seem to make everyone nervous and exited, and all get the need to run around in the wind and pose. can't find a reason behind this yet but it's still fun as a hookshot.
-dry conditions encourage slow but constant movement
-cloudy/overcast conditions seem to be neutral and has no effect on the students
if anyone else has come to similar or completely different conclusions then e-mail me about it, it would be fun to be wrong.
